So This Just Happened.... |

TLDR: We saved a lot of pups today, please help, thanks.
Anyone else ever feel like you are constantly living the old idiom “When we make plans, God laughs?” Because seriously….as you know, we posted on socials that there have been so many surrenders, so many medically needy pups, Peaches’s double FHO surgery…that we needed to fundraise and until we did, we couldn’t consider anymore pups coming into FLDR. Laurie’s morning was spent at the vet today and she had plans to go home after dropping pups off and get her fosters settled, some paperwork done, water her plants (she likes to rescue plants too, we just don’t even ask anymore) and work on some spreadsheets. A fairly easy Wednesday, until she was pulling in her driveway and a text from one of our rescue partners came in about 11 small pups needing rescue ASAP. So she did what we do at FLDR - walked inside, dropped off her 2 foster pups, grabbed an energy drink and some carriers headed right back out, calling Dr. M and saying “Hey so I know we just left but I’ll be back…” She had prepped our rescue partner that we could maybe take 5, but truth be told, this summer has taken a toll and none of us are great at picking and choosing at the moment, so when she got there and looked at all the little faces, 11 pups were loaded up and headed to the vet, where they are now all settling in, safe and sound. These pups all came to us with no vaccines, no microchips, no vetting - so we are starting at ground zero with them. A few got their exams and preliminary vaccines today and everyone will be seen over the next few days. It will be a few weeks (at a minimum) before they are cleared for adoption, so please know we won’t discuss adoption until then and we don’t have “wait lists”. We appreciate your understanding in that!! We know there are a few with some major medical going on - one may have pyometra, one can’t really use her back legs, some are very underweight - all but 1 are still matted and need major grooming. So, we are back here tonight asking for some helping paws as the vet bills are quickly mounting. Donations can be made here or on our website, using any of the donation links. Thank you all friends!

Meet Dudley! Dudley is a 1-2 year old male Shih Tzu mix and he weighs about 17 pounds. Dudley arrived in rescue after arriving at animal control with a fractured pelvis. While it was not surgically repairable, it has healed very well (and continues to do so) and he is no longer in pain and gets around just fine! While he shouldn't be out on four mile hikes or running marathons, he is ready to find a forever home to call his own! His foster mom says: What a laid back guy! Dudley's a dedicated couch potato who loves long naps. He's housebroken on a schedule but without a lot of training with commands, but he's very intelligent. He does not have any bad chewing/scratching habits. He handles getting brushed and his nails dremeled very well. Dudley is crate-trained but he does not enjoy it. He loves to sleep under the bed. He's a laid-back guy, but is also affectionate. He's good with men and women, but he hasn't been tested around other dogs, animals, or children. He does great in a one-pet household. Dudley loves car rides and is an excellent passenger. Like most dogs, Dudley doesn't enjoy baths but he tolerates them. He barks when there's someone at the front door. Dudley is neutered, up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped and has had his teeth cleaned. He is fostered in the Orlando area and his adoption donation is $300. |

NEEDED!! |

FLDR wants to save as many puppers as we possibly can and the only way to do this is by YOU joining our team!! We need fosters!! If you live in the Orlando area and would like to help save lives, we want you to join our pack! We are in need of foster homes willing to open their hearts and make a space on the couch for a rescued pup, usually just for a couple of weeks! We take care of the vetting, grooming, medications and you provide the love and snuggles! Please complete the "Adoption Application" and just put in the comments - "Want to Foster" and a Foster Coordinator will reach out to you right away!
We are also in need of people willing to do transports, usually from Winter Haven to St. Cloud or from north Orlando to St. Cloud a couple of times a month, during a weekday. Please email littledogrescue@gmail.com for more info on helping with Freedom Rides!

Save a Dog on Death Row!
They need YOUR help right now!!
Please help us save dogs on Death Row at local Animal Controls. These are dogs that can't be adopted out directly from Animal Control, mainly for medical reasons. When they can't be adopted, they need a rescue to save them when their time runs out. These pups desperately need our help, we are their last hope!

Florida Little Dog Rescue Group rescues dogs from all over the state of Florida, but our main focus is the Central Florida area. Our volunteers live anywhere from Tallahassee to Tampa, but all of our dogs are fostered in the Orlando area. We are 100% volunteer-based, which means no overhead or salary costs. Your donation is used directly for dog care. We do not receive government funds. We are entirely supported by charitable donations.
Why We Do What We Do
- No shelter, just foster homes—so every dog gets the love and evaluation they deserve.
- Over 5,500 lives changed across 16 years of rescue work.
- A fully volunteer run organization—every gift you give goes straight to care.
- Not a shelter—visits happen by application only to ensure safety and respect for foster families and pets.
Please note, we are not a shelter. We do not have a kennel or facility that you can visit and see all the dogs. Each dog is fostered in an individual home. We do rescue out of our private homes and in our spare time. So, you cannot come visit our dogs until you have gone through the application and interview process and we have contacted you about scheduling a visit. We do not have set "hours" and we answer all calls and emails as quickly as we can!
